Q. What are wickless soy candles?
Wickless soy candles are used in places where you don't want a flame.  It lasts two to three times longer than a traditional candle.  With the 100% soy wickless candle there is no smoke or flame to worry about.  You will need an electric candle warmer to use a wickless candle.

Q. What are "Scoopables"?
With a fragrance tart you have to cut it and put it in your wax/oil burner.  Every time you want to refresh the scent, you have to cut more wax.  Not so with "Scoopables".  "Scoopables" come with a little plastic spoon so that you can scoop them up to use in your burner.  "Scoopables" are made of pure vegetable wax and are made with the maximum of scent they will hold.  The decorations and color of the "Scoopables" reflect the scent that you choose.  Store them near your burner to refresh your scent after a day or two.  No mess.  No hassle.

Q. How long should I burn a candle?
Maximum burn times vary from candle to candle.  Follow the manufacturer's instructions.  Always extinguish a candle if the flame gets too close to the candleholder or container.  For a margin of safety, discontinue burning a candle when 2 inches of wax remains  (1/2 inch if a container candle or jar candle).

Q. What is the best way to trim a wick?
After the candle is fully cooled down, turn the candle upside down to trim the wick 1/4''.  This will keep the wick from falling into the candle.

Q. What sort of chemical reaction occurs when a candle burns?
When you light a candle, the heat of the flame melts the wax near the wick.  This melted or liguid wax is then drawn up into the wick by capillary action.  The flame's heat vaporizes the liquid wax to produce water vapor and carbon dioxide (the same by-products that humans produce when exhaling).

Q. Why does my candle container turn black?
The black is carbon. This can be caused by a large flame which produces carbon due to lack of oxygen into the jar.  Wick maintenance is extremely important.

Q. What are the benefits of soy-wax candles?
Candles made from a blen of soy wax and other vegetable waxes produces NO harmful carcinogens.  They product no black soot from wax.  They burn clean and are non-toxic.  These candles burn approximately 40-50% longer and more uniformly than traditional candles.

Q.  Are soy candles actually made from soy beans?
Soy candles are made from the extruded oil from the soy bean.  This oil is hydrogenated accordingly and blended with other natural vegetable-based oils to produce the candle.

Q.  How are your Afterglow, Milano, Georgio, and Orleans candle holders made?
These lovely and elegant crystal glassware pieces are hand-blown at the Cristiro Factory in Bistrita, BN, Transylvania, Romania.  Glass blowing is the art of creating an object from molten glass by blowing air into it utilizing a tube.  The glass in the oven takes days to melt (the oven is never turned off).  The artisan collects molten glass onto the tip of his blow rod, being careful to accumulate just the right amount for the piece to be blown.  Each piece is blown to the proper thickness and shape by mouth.  When the glass is just right, the piece is taken out and allowed to cool.

Q.  How do I care for my hand-blown crystal candle holders?
Do not expose to rapid temperature changes or extremes of temperature.

Do not place in the microwave, oven, dishwasher, or freezer.

Avoid placing in direct sunlight.

For best results, avoid contact with metal utensils when stirring or serving.

Do not secure candles with molten wax or allow candles to burn within three inches of the candle cup.  Dripless candles are preferable.  If wax does adhere to candleholder, clean gently with denatured alcohol.

Store your glassware right side up; do not stack vessels.  Avoid sliding or twirling the glass.

Avoid contact with hard or abrasive materials.  You may wish to cover display areas with protective felt.

Avoid packing glassware in newspaper or other moisture-absorbing materials for long periods of time; soft cloth or bubble wrap is preferable.

Hand wash using a non-abrasive (mild soap like dish washing liquid) cleaner in warm water.  You cannot use any type of chemical cleaner like Windex.  You may wish to cushion the sink with a towel or rubber mat.

If stains appear on the vessel, gently rub with half a lemon, wash with vinegar, or soak the interior with powdered dentifrice dissoslved in lukewarm water.

In areas with very hard water and high mineral content, distilled water will help prevent staining.

To dry, use a soft, lint-free cloth, or air dry.

To avoid scratching, dust with a soft, lint-free cloth dampened in a mild solution of 1-part ammonia to 3-parts water.

More Candle Tips:

The first time you light your pillar candle, let it burn one (1) hour for each inch of its diameter.  For instance, your pillar is 3x6, only allow the candle to burn for three (3) hours.  This allows the melted wax to extend to the outside edge, rather than form a "well" in the center.  It also sets your candle's "memory" so that each time you burn it, it will burn out to the same edge.  Never burn your soy pillar longer than the advised time, or it will leak.

Burning pillars too long will cause a leak out the sides.  If this happens, extinguish the candle, let the melted wax begin to harden.  While it is still soft, but not liquid, use a butter knife to scrape up some wax and spread it over the hole in the side.  This will re-seal the pillar to almost perfect.

Before you light a candle, trim the wick 1/4 inch.  This is very important for pillar candles.  This will ensure clean, smoke-free burning.  Remove any wick debris that fell into the candle.  Consider the size of your room.  Do not have more than one candle burning per 10 square feet.  Candles need Oxygen to burn.  If you burn a candle in a small, confined space, it will smoke.

A candle snuffer to extinguish candles helps prevent wax from spattering and keeps the wick centered.  Do not keep your candles in direct sunlight.  Store them in a cool, dry, dark place.

Burn votives inside a snug-fitting votive holder.  Smell a pillar candle from the bottom to smell the fragrance; it's concentrated intensely.  This also allows you to check if the entire candle is scented.
